A total bargain: What is there to say that has'nt been said already, Peter was very professional answering all my questions in a timely and reliable manner. I purchased an English based OS and it is awesome. Getting a PDA in the deal is just a bonus in my opinion, the dictionaries are fantastic. And some of the example sentences really put a smile on your face, while being very helpful at the same time.

What are you waiting for, go and buy one today

great product, great guy: I put a lot of trust, buying this complete system from the other side of the world, and it was worth it. While there was some delay, Peter was very upfront about his efforts in upgrading the system and dictionaries before sending it out to me, and his communication was examplary. Shipping was ridiculously fast.

Peter has been very generous with information on running the system and other technicalities, customer service in many industries can certainly take a leaf out of his book.

I am learning my way around the various dictionaries, considering that I intend to settle in Japan, there's no excuse for not purchasing a product that will accelerate my learning of the language.

I think one should purchase a much larger memory card to go with the PDA, I only chose the basic 2GB SD card.

Thank you Peter! I would like to buy you a drink when I get over there!

Note from Peter: this is a review of the X50V with the English WM6 operating system. The current Japanese OS system (on an iPAQ hx4700) now comes with a 4 GB card, and the current English WM6 OS system (on an Axim X51V, a later model) comes with a 16 GB card. All of these PDAs have two slots for memory cards, so the memory can be easily upgraded by adding a CF card, available everywhere, should one find a need for more memory later on. And I'm partial to Bombay on the rocks.

A fantastic buy: I have just recently received my Axim and thought i should put my 2 cents in.

I bought the Japanese OS and although i was a bit stumped at first with all the japanese options and menus, after a few days of trial and error i now know how to operate my axim to a comfortable level. Im still learning things everyday, and i guess that adds to half the fun =] I too recommend the Jap OS. Its stable and easy to use, even for beginners of Japanese.

As for the dictionary, well, all i can say is Perfect. The basic package will provide all the dictionarys needed plus more. They are simple to use and all in English so there isnt any need to work things out. The searches are fast and precise, i havn't yet been let down with any word i have searched. As for the kanji recognition, it has now helped me on countless occasions especially when i have no idea what the reading or meaning is. Just draw the kanji onto the screen and you will get a list of results. Even if your drawings are terrible you still seem to get the one you want.

Onto the Axim itself. Its a brilliant little device. Light, bright, fun, and fast. Its a great PDA, even if the technology is a few years old. I have had no trouble connecting to the net, using MSN messenger, installing programs, watching video and listening to music. All up its a multimedia device with all the bells and whistles.

Now Peters service. He helped me out from the get go. Fast responses with loads of information. His endless patience to all my questions and worries were highly appreciated and made the entire process extremely simple and faster than expected. Thank you Peter for the brilliant little device that now sits in my hand.

Gone are the days i flick through those paper dictionaries for what felt like an eternity. Gone are those frustrations of not knowing the meaning of the words that were in front of me. Gone are my pre-axim days, which now i realise were missing something. I am extremely satisfied with the entire process, package and service. The money may seem a bit hefty at first, but you are really buying a top quality product which feels like its worth a lot more than what i paid. 10000 out of 5 stars!!

Note from Peter: This is a review of the Complete System on an Axim X50V with the Japanese WM2003SE operating system. Just one thing: the device is a couple of years old but its technology is still current (as of mid-2009). In fact, it's way ahead of the average new PDA or SmartPhone and on par with the most powerful of them. (Compare the specs to see for yourself.) It's weird, considering how fast computer tech in general advances, but pocket devices can't get more powerful without consuming more power--so until battery tech makes a big leap, Pocket PC tech isn't going anywhere either.

LOVE IT!!: Just got my axim (well a couple of weeks ago) and it's a dream come true. Instead of floundering with about with 4 dictionaries to read anything , now I just tap! My students love it too!!

I also found myself using the PDA functions (schedules, memos etc) as much as the dictionary.

If you are wondering whether to buy one, stop it and order one now!

I would like to know if there are any apps. available to make your own vocab/kanji tests from words you look up. eg when you search for a word or kani you can then save it across to a "test" builder and then run that app. when you have a few spare moments. I'm sure there must be and if not, Peter how you feel about creating one??

Also what would be the best way to connect to the internet. I am want to be able to access the net anywhere, not just at home or at hot spots. Can anyone recommend a modem card or simmilar for this? (I am in Japan).

Note from Peter: This is a review of the Complete System on an Axim X50V with the Japanese WM2003SE operating system.

Current systems use the Pro version of the EB Pocket dictionary program, which lets you save words you look up to a list to study later. It's trivial to export that list, then change the format a bit in a text editor on your regular computer to convert it to a flashcard set for use in King Kanji, or any other flash card, study, or "testing" program that uses an open text format for its flash card or study sets. Contact me if you'd like more info--I can even send you the commands to reformat the list for King Kanji. If you have an older system with the non-pro version of EB Pocket, contact me for information on upgrading so you can use this feature. The license is only 1155 yen from the software maker.

PDA Japanese Dictionary: The Axim X50V is a perfect platform for the pocket dictionaries. They are esy to use and access plus you get the benefits of the Axim. Using the dictinaries is intuitive and leads you down many paths. Being able to draw kanji gives one a fighting chance as well as teaching you the order of the strokes.

Really pleased with the total package.

The complete package is a dream: Short message: I wholeheartedly recommend this system and Peter's service.

I bought the complete system, Japanese OS, with Eijiro package. Peter was so nice to install the free Wadoku dictionary additionally without any charge. Communication and service were absolutely top-rate. The documentation provided on the website and in the device itself (online HTML help by Peter) is very detailed and helpful.

The system arrived fast, in good condition, and with many sensible settings already preconfigured by Peter. It was usable out-of the box, no changes made, from the first minute.

The dictionaries are cleverly modified versions that work way better than the normal stuff you would install yourself. The user interface on the Axim is easy to use and the kanji handwriting recognition is a dream come true.

For German customers, I would really recommend to have Wadoku included - it has all the info right away in the entries - readings, meanings, and so on. Note that you will have to pay additional 19% customs tax on the full payment you made to Peter on import to Germany. However, the money is definitively worth it.

Highly recommended - my thanks go to Peter for providing such a fantastic tool!

Note from Peter: This is a review of the Complete System on an Axim X50V with the Japanese WM2003SE operating system. As of mid-2009, half of my German customers have had to pay customs tax or VAT, half haven't. So you should plan to pay, but you've got a 50/50 chance of getting lucky.

Thank you so much for the great update to kanjidic! It's new to me, anyhow! I was using the old version, and was wishing for a way to integrate the stroke orders font with kanjidic. Thanks again.

It's been like month since I bought the AXIM and I'm very pleased with it, the Japanese OS is very easy to use, like Peter says, just ten secons of poking around and you'll figure out how to use it. I specialy like the clipboard search feature of the dictionary a lot, you can copy a word from an application to the clipboard and then jump to the dictionary and you'll have the meaning right away.

Japanese Software Tool: I bought the system a couple of months ago. After extensively testing the dictionaries and the japanese version of the AXIM, I have to confess that this is gorgeous tool. I wished I had it before. Currently I am refreshing my japanese kanji knowledge each and every day by writing the kanji. The new kanji dictionary with embedded stroke order diagrams is extremely helpful. Thanks to Peter for setting up this Language tool.
