I have just recently received my Axim and thought i should put my 2 cents in.

I bought the Japanese OS and although i was a bit stumped at first with all the japanese options and menus, after a few days of trial and error i now know how to operate my axim to a comfortable level. Im still learning things everyday, and i guess that adds to half the fun =] I too recommend the Jap OS. Its stable and easy to use, even for beginners of Japanese.

As for the dictionary, well, all i can say is Perfect. The basic package will provide all the dictionarys needed plus more. They are simple to use and all in English so there isnt any need to work things out. The searches are fast and precise, i havn't yet been let down with any word i have searched. As for the kanji recognition, it has now helped me on countless occasions especially when i have no idea what the reading or meaning is. Just draw the kanji onto the screen and you will get a list of results. Even if your drawings are terrible you still seem to get the one you want.

Onto the Axim itself. Its a brilliant little device. Light, bright, fun, and fast. Its a great PDA, even if the technology is a few years old. I have had no trouble connecting to the net, using MSN messenger, installing programs, watching video and listening to music. All up its a multimedia device with all the bells and whistles.

Now Peters service. He helped me out from the get go. Fast responses with loads of information. His endless patience to all my questions and worries were highly appreciated and made the entire process extremely simple and faster than expected. Thank you Peter for the brilliant little device that now sits in my hand.

Gone are the days i flick through those paper dictionaries for what felt like an eternity. Gone are those frustrations of not knowing the meaning of the words that were in front of me. Gone are my pre-axim days, which now i realise were missing something. I am extremely satisfied with the entire process, package and service. The money may seem a bit hefty at first, but you are really buying a top quality product which feels like its worth a lot more than what i paid. 10000 out of 5 stars!!

Note from Peter: This is a review of the Complete System on an Axim X50V with the Japanese WM2003SE operating system. Just one thing: the device is a couple of years old but its technology is still current (as of mid-2009). In fact, it's way ahead of the average new PDA or SmartPhone and on par with the most powerful of them. (Compare the specs to see for yourself.) It's weird, considering how fast computer tech in general advances, but pocket devices can't get more powerful without consuming more power--so until battery tech makes a big leap, Pocket PC tech isn't going anywhere either.
