Notes:

• Some have pockets for holding memory cards, etc., but I recommend never putting anything in a pocket that will be up against the screen when the case is closed. The comments may be useful even for cases that have already been sold; you can use them to help evaluate cases you may find for sale elsewhere.

• Flip: Front cover opens up, folds over back. Most ergonomic—comfortable and secure to hold while using the device.
• Book: Front cover opens to right, usually can't fold all the way around to the back. Secure, but can get in the way when using the device, depending on how you hold it.
• Wallet: Book style, but larger, with spaces for credit cards, etc.
• Skin: Form fitting stretchy skin.

• Subjectively, sleek and slim can fit in jacket or pants pockets (apologies to you Commonwealthers who likely don't have pockets in your pants); bulky won't it in a pocket, but the size difference won't make much difference in a bag or briefcase.

• How well it reinforces the body against twisting, which over time can wear down internal components. For carrying in a pants pocket, perhaps the most stressful for the Axim, only the metal cases will do. If you'll be carrying the Axim in a pocket of a bag or loose in a briefcase, where heavier contents can press against it, something with very good or better protection is a good idea. If you'll be carrying it in a more protected way or won't be carrying it around much, then flex protection isn't as important—the Axim body itself is reasonably solid.

• If you drop an Axim from waist or table high onto a hard floor, odds of survival without any protection are at best 50-50. With good to excellent protection, the Axim will likely survive most falls. With a metal case, odds of damage in any fall are quite low (but not zero—even with the best case, there is such a thing as plain bad luck)--I've dropped PDAs in aluminum and magnesium cases many times without damaging one—and a couple of those falls were pretty dramatic.
